Yngve Slettholm (Norway)
Yngve Slettholm was born 1955 and attended the Norwegian State Academy of Music from 1974 to 1980. He received his diploma in composition in 1980. From 1986-1988 he studied theory, music history and composition at the State University of New York at Buffalo, with Morton Feldman as his teacher in composition. Slettholm has a broad experience in teaching as well as conducting.
Since 1980 Slettholm has been active as a composer, and has written for most types of solo instruments, ensembles, orchestral, band as well as vocal music. With his firm footing in contemporary music and modern thoughts, his music often express a strong concentration of timbral nuances and a more introvert form of expression. These elements are also characteristic in AIR II.
