 | DAVID FRIEDMAN, (USA)
internationally renowned
vibraphonist, marimbist, composer and jazz educator, has his own
musical message, born of fascinatingly diverse musical influences. In
1977, Friedman co-founded the unique vibe-marimba quartet, Double
Image, and their album "Double Image", was just released as a special
edition by Enja Records. As a leader in percussion and jazz education,
David Friedman heads the jazz Department at the Hochschule der Künste
in Berlin. He is a Pofessor of jazz studies since 1989. He is the
author of "Vibraphone Technique, Dampening and Pedaling" (Steve Weiss
Music). Friedman´s more recent CD projects have been hailed as
masterpieces. In that respect, "Air Sculpture" must be mentioned,
called "a humble masterpiece" by the press. His partnership of 20 years
with Dave Samuels is well known and admired throughtout the world. many
of the pieces from Friedman´s CD projects can be found in his book
"Vibes and More".
